Well, we lost. Wisconsin lost to Davidson. I can honestly say I had a feeling we weren’t going to win tonight. I was yelled at each time I expressed that thought, but I truly didn’t get a good feeling about this game. We had an amazing season and I am so grateful to the players for giving their all. And to our seniors, Brian Butch, Greg Stiemsma, Michael Flowers and Tanner Bronson, thank you from the bottom of my heart and good luck in the future. On Wisconsin!

So I’m watching American Idol Tuesday night (shuttie – it’s my guilty pleasure) and it comes to David’s Cook’s turn. While he is not one of my favorites, I like him because he always brings something new to the song to make it more sellable in today’s market. The theme was “Songs From The Year You Were Born”. David chooses “Billy Jean” and does an amazing rendition of it. Seriously. I am shocked that he was able to rewrite the song in less than a week’s time. It’s so amazing that I have to call L into the room to listen to it. He agrees it was really good. And he is not a fan of the show, so I know he was serious because he didn’t just roll his eyes at me and call me a loser like usual when I try to share AI with him.

Fast forward to last night’s results show. David Cook is standing with Ryan Seacrest and I have a goofy grin on my face because, in my mind, David has gone up a bunch of notches and is banging on my favorites door. Then I hear Ryan mention something about David covering Chris Cornell’s version of the song. Wha??? He covered someone else’s version? He didn’t rewrite it like he led us to believe in his interview the night before?!?! Unacceptable. He has now been thrown down lower than he was before yesterday. I feel so cheated. So wronged. I know it’s dumb. But I loathe posers. And that was a poser move.

And for your viewing pleasure, Chris Cornell’s version of Billy Jean. And I am giving him props BEFORE I link the video. Because that’s what considerate people do. Boo on David. Boo.

Um, Madison? We need to talk.

I came to Madison in 1996 for school and, save a year when I needed to move home to save money, I have lived here ever since. I love Madison. The city. The school. Everything.

I had never been to campus before my mother and I came to tour the school. The second I stepped out of the car in Lot 1, I did a 360 with my jaw dropped and looked at everything. The Memorial Union. The Red Gym. Library Mall. Lake Mendota. I was home. It was the first time in my life that I felt that I was in the right place. We toured the campus and that was it. I was smitten.

I applied that summer and received my acceptance letter in November. It was the only place I applied and the only place I would have gone. I knew my true love wouldn’t have let me down.

Almost 12 years later and I’m still in love with Madison. But I’ve had my ups and downs with this city, as all relationships have. Done all of my growing up here. Hell, I’ve spent 1/3 of my life here. But, unfortunately, there have been more bad than good experiences. It was just that time of my life. My 20’s. It’s the time of your life when you have to live and grow and fall and remember to get back up. It’s not Madison’s fault things didn’t really go my way. I don’t blame the city at all. But it’s tainted here now. And there’s only one way to fix it.

It’s time to move on. L got a job in Milwaukee, so I’m moving home. My true home. Where my family is. Where L’s brother’s family lives. Where my FRIENDS live. I can’t wait.

I hope that one day, I’ll return to Madison for a Badger game or the Farmer’s Market and that same feeling I experienced at my first trip to campus will overwhelm me again. When everything was new and fresh and full of adventure. I look forward to that day. I miss the warm tingle I used to feel living here. I really do.

Farewell Madison. It was fun while it lasted, but I’m afraid it’s over between us. It’s not you, it’s me. I swear. I need a fresh start in life. And, I’m afraid, that doesn’t include you.

Just remember, we’ll always have Lot 1.

Well, here is the obligatory first post. Quite nerve-wrecking, actually. Not sure exactly why, but it is. I’m sure all you bloggers out there can relate.

I don’t have an exciting life. Chaotic. But not exciting. Not exactly what would entertain the masses, but I’d be egotistical if I thought my blog would change the world.

I am an Event Planner. I own my own company and I love it. My husband, L, and I have been married for almost 5 years and he is my best friend. Truly. I am madly in love with him and fall harder and harder for him every day. I can’t imagine my life without him and hope I never have to. We have the sweetest cocker spaniel whom I love more than life itself. We rescued her from an abusive situation and you will never meet a more loyal dog. She is my heart.

We currently live in Madison, Wisconsin. L and I both went to the UW and love everything about the school. We have made so many life long friends and have encountered such great opportunities because of the university that I feel truly blessed to have such an amazing state school right in my backyard.

L and I work a lot, so we end up spending most of our free time together. We read, surf the net with our dueling laptops and watch tv. Our favorite shows right now are Lost, Survivor, any and all Law & Orders (dun dun), House, The Office and Scrubs. L built our DVR out of computer parts, so we spend our evenings in our Archie and Edith chairs laughing together and fast-forwarding through commercials. I love my life.

I think that’s an adequate introduction. Hopefully I will be as diligent about posting as I want to be. Now that this “scary one” is out of the way, I should be back here a lot. I bet you can’t wait.
